Moon Mud Clay Mask
Clean your canvas and start fresh with Moon Mud Clay Mask - A deeply cleansing, detoxifying, and oil balancing clay mask suited for normal to oily skin.
We love powder clay masks because they are so customizable. Add in water, milk, yogurt, tea, your favorite oil, aloe gel - the options are endless, and the facial can be a bit different each time if you'd like - which is awesome.
Our clay masks do not contain any fillers and are 100% natural, for a truly pure and effective facial. Because you add in the water, the mask is super fresh every time you use it. There is also no need for a preservative since they are in powder form.
Clay draws out impurities and toxins from your pores, and has been used in beauty treatments since ancient times. We think it's pretty amazing that it's possible to restore our skin using only the natural elements of the earth.
Bentonite Clay is known for its remarkable healing powers and ability to unclog pores. It also aids in controlling the overproduction of sebum (skins natural oils). Bentonite Clay has a very strong negative charge. This means that because toxins have a positive charge, the clay binds to them and pulls them to the surface to be washed away.
Blue Tansy Oil is high in Azulene, a powerful anti-inflammatory that works to clarify and soothe skin. It is a gorgeous blue color, and smells very fresh and herbal.
Activated Charcoal has super high adsorption (yes, adsorption) due to its pores, which take up most of its surface. Charcoal binds to toxins and traps them - It's kind of like a vacuum for pores.
Ingredients: Bentonite Clay, Grey Illite Clay, Coconut Charcoal, Arrowroot Powder*, Spearmint Oil*, Tea Tree Oil*, Blue Tansy Oil *Organic
We love powder clay masks because they are totally customizable, which is why there is no "correct" mixing formula. We recommend that you scoop out about a tablespoon of powder into a non-metal bowl, and add water or other liquid component a little bit at a time until desired consistency is reached. Like the mask to be thicker and creamier? Add less water. Allow to dry and rinse.
*We love how much of a difference it makes when we open our pores with a warm wet cloth before the mask, and close pores with a cool towel or splash of cold water after.
We find the best way to mix the formula is to shake the bowl after you add the liquid component, and before you stir with a spoon. Almost like a "sifting" motion. This allows for the clay to start absorbing water, and makes it easier to tell if you would like to add more of your liquid or not. You can always add more powder if it becomes too watery.
*When mixing the liquid component and clay, always be sure to use non-metal spoons and bowls. This is because metal reacts with the clay and decreases its effectiveness. The negatively charged ions that are present in clay will become neutralized by the positive ions in the metal.
Once liquid has been added, it can be refrigerated for up to 1 week.
